Lights & Motion is a Swedish cinematic project led by multi-instrumentalist producer/composer Christoffer Franzén. It was created in the winter of 2011, as a way of dealing with his insomnia; Instead of sleeping he wrote music at night by himself in a studio in Gothenburg. The project was initially supposed to reflect the sense of dreamlike state in which a lot of the first album was written in. Since then the he has gone on to release five full-length albums, and several EPs. The cinematic music of Lights & Motion have been used in trailers for films such as Concussion, Beautiful Boy, Lone Survivor, Collateral Beauty, Skyscraper, Furious 7, The Way Back; in popular TV-Shows such as The Vampire Diaries, Containment, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen Degeneres Show and So You Think You Can Dance. It has appeared during both the Super Bowl and the Academy Awards. Songs from Lights & Motion have been used by Apple for their iTunes campaign as well as featuring them in their Memories Function, available on all of their products. In 2019 HBO used the song “This Explosion Within” for their `Seeing Is Believing´ campaign.
